All people are aware of what trading is but many think that this only applies to the financial markets. Trading is simply the process of exchanging one thing for something else.
With many trades then there is a financial element involved and so skilled traders and businessmen and women look to come out of trades on the positive side and make money.
But we trade ourselves every single day……..we go to the shops to buy food……we trade……we trade money for goods because the food is more important to us than the money as we need it to survive.
Many people waste money in this area by not shopping around or paying too much for their items (I am guilty of this). We go to work…….we trade…..the trade is our time and work in return for a salary……our employer gains but then so do we and so this is an often mutually advantageous trade.
Trading Poker Advantages
Mutually advantageous trades are all around us but many trades involve one party being financially better off and the other party getting other benefits.
Like if you bought your groceries from the supermarket……they make the money while you get essential food and probably some nice foods that you enjoy eating……..bottom line……they make the money.
Well poker sites are looking to trade with you but they don’t want to give you long term money and they are certainly not going to make it easy for you to make money either because they simply do not want you draining money from their economy and never giving it back.
- It is a bit like casinos with card counters…….casinos like the fact that blackjack is a game of skill because it draws people to the game……..but what do you think happens to players who they notice demonstrating that skill……..have a guess!
- So to get your business then the poker sites have to trade something and so they trade sign up bonuses, rakeback, freerolls, reward points and all the rest of it.
Actually digressing slightly I have just heard of one major network that are now awarding less reward points to successful players on their network……..see what I mean!
On The Right Side of The Trade
So they are looking to trade money and other items for what they hope will be a much larger amount of money coming back. Or at the very least they want you on their site generating action so that more tables are open for the other bigger rake producing players to play in.
If you are inexperienced in online poker or poker in general or you do not have a successful long term history of making money then there will be several main reasons for this.
- One reason is that you are simply trading too much for your time on the poker site and this means that you are paying too much rake.
- Weak novices are the worst because they are forever limping in whether it is NLHE or Limit or whatever……if someone raises then they call a raise meaning that the pot is raked.
Online poker sites do not take rake if there is no flop. Remember that the blinds are paid by all and blinds go back to the players………rake doesn’t. If you play poker in such a way that you are being raked every time you play then the poker site becomes your number one enemy.
